I'd find it magical too if I had a husband with a gazillion dollars and could hire a nanny or twenty to look after my darling ~~screaming memees~~ child.

Gawd.

That was rich now wasn't it?

I wonder how 'magical' she would find children if she had no money, bills up the wazoo, no husband around to help out or if she had a husband/partner and the lazy git never helped her or with the household chores?

Don't get me wrong, the miracle of birth is truly a marvelous thing but I find it surreal when parenting, parenthood, children and so on is glamorized for it is anything but that.

And I am spent.

  Once you give birth then you can adorn the label as a mother or as a father but the true grit required is for parenting. To parent your children and do a good job is tough and hard work. And when the children get older, they can be a right pain in the arse. But, then they can also be a blessing. Typically they are not both at the same time.

I hate so called celebrities telling me how great things are. It is almost as bad as them saying how they got back to size 0 two days after the birth - duh so would I have done if I had my meals cooked for me, a nanny to look after the child and a personal trainer!

Try telling me how wonderful parenthood is when you have to deal with a stressed out child, a child with learning problems and work all at the same time without a nanny to do all the things you are trying to fit in daily!!!

I have never been blessed with children myself but my sisters have enough for a football team between them so I know something about what parents sufffer and as you say if they weren't rich then they wouldn't cope at all. If anything I feel sorry for their kids they will be brought up to be spoilt and he will have huge ego problems later on in their life when they find out the sun doesn't shine out of their arse.

Glamourisation of motherhood is the doing of man and sadly females either suck into it and perpetrate the myth - till they have the dear souls that is - or tacitly accept what man says without challenging it. There are so many agendas there. I like your little challenge, even if it is in a small corner where it won't get maximum publicity.

I'll leave the 'being a mother means always a mother' discussion, that's another story.

celebrities live in lalala land more than most.The world that they make public is a different world to what they are experiencing. Mind you , isn't that true for the rest of us too ?

I was a single parent , self-employed, but I do remember magic moments. I think I remember it all as magical , but then I do like to live in lalala wacky land lol

To be fair to the girl - her response is based on her personal experience, so, with all the help she may (or may not) receive, she finds it "magical". Why are we so ready to criticise someone for making a personal reflection during an interview?

In general, regular people need to take what celebs say with a pinch of salt and pay them little or no heed.

Celebs command column inches because people find them, and what they have to say, interesting. That this is so is, in my view, worrying (people should have better things to be interested in) but not something that can be knocked - it is simply market forces.

Just my 2ps worth.
