  • Gordon, Neil and other such ramblings

Saw Gordo Ramsey in some blue jeans on the teevee and gotta say that the man has a nice package.

    Wot?

Been listening to Neil Young's greatest hits *if you don't know him then google him and shame on you!! * wags finger* and I am thinking that he wrote every song when he was stoned out of his gourd.

Musta been the fashion back then.

Had a weird day today...dodgy stomach and all.

    *bastid*

Ya know it's bad if I hop in the tub after work.

Anybody else think this week is dragging?

  • the baby chick

Woke up this morning, took the cover off the birds' cages and voila, there was a baby finch on the bottom of the finches' cage.

No, I did not stop and take a photo but spent the next few moments attempting to put the baby back into the nest.

    *cuteness*
    `
The chicks have their feathers now and over the next few months, the color of the feathers and their beaks will come in.

Watched Cloverfield last night. It's a great movie but the way it was filmed got a bit annoying with the hand held camera shaking all the time.

    Ermmmmmm, that's all my news.

    And you???????

  • 'effers

Canceled my cell phone March 1.

    Had a credit of $32.17.

It's April 30th and I was told I could expect a refund in 6 weeks.

That would be 3 1/2 months after I canceled the service.

    Called the 'effers.

Gave me the song and the dance to which I replied 'shame on you' and threw around the bit about it being 'poor customer service'.

Had heart palpitations over that I did.

    Learned my lesson.

I'll 'effing use smoke signals to call someone before I 'effing get another cell phone.

    And breatheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Liverpool VS Greenwich

I am thinking that the folks coming to Greenwich for the bloggity meet might out number the folks that came to Le Pool.

    Just a thought.

Scarpers off to here for more info.

Didn't post yesterday as I figured I should respond to comments on my own damn blog before I start posting again

    *pressure*

Soooooooooooo, how you all been doing?

s'only 11 days till I come see you!!!

  • Luton, the bestest UK site, needs & wants

Anybody up for dinner May 11 in the Luton Airport area? I'll be staying at the Holiday Inn Express London Luton Airport for the night.

I have discovered the bestest UK site on the web for everything and anything you wanted to know about the UK. I think Mrs. F introduced me to this linky.

I have booked my hotels from that site which offers cheaper rates for the rooms. And I also found out how to get from point A to point B on the 17th!!!

    Ta-da!!!

In other news, it is a sunny day here in MenoLand. I need to clean up the gardens in the back yard, clean the bird cages, clean the fish cages, scarper to FutureShop and to PetSmart, bake some raisin bran muffins, some chicken cacciatorre, exercise et al but I want to sit on my fluffy Canadian arse all day doing one of two things - playing video games or blogging.

    Damn!!!

  • the ramblings of a mad woman

Had my family over for dinner and as we sat around scarfing food, drinking some vino whilst sharing some laughs and I felt so wonderfully connected to them.

I've known them for over 17 years and it is amazing to share a sense of history, of times gone by, of times to look forward to and as I looked around the room, I can see how those 17 years have left their mark on all of us.

I do like the idea of growing old with people I love.

We were telling stories of the years that had gone by and we did not have to offer an explanation of what we meant for we already knew the history.

It became time for them to leave, they left *why do I insist people take food home with them?* and I set forth to the kitchen as dishes needed to be done.

Never mind I had spent 2 hours cooking.

Never mind I had spent 3 hours entertaining.

I instinctively know that I must help my darling husband with the mofo dishes piled high to the ceiling for if I don't, he will blow a gasket.

As I was washing the dishes and he drying them, I mentioned this point to which he replied, 'It's a mental thing Ma.'

'I know it is Da. I know it is.'

  • 'effing tired

Been a long week. Glad it is over.

    Gonna watch a movie methinks.

    Charlie Wilson's War

    Suppose to be good.

    Toodles.

  • friday's chores

I reallllly must figure out how to get from Edgware, Middlesex to Heathrow T3 on May 17th.

    That is all.

EDITED: I think I have the route sorted. I'll be taking the tube and the above ground rail to T3.

I do believe I will get to know London's Transit system better than the one in MenoLand!!!

actually the transit system here is dead easy compared to London's. There are 2 subway lines in Toronto, a couple of Go-Transit rail lines and a gazillion bus routes

  • *high fives support@BCUK*

    ((((((screams))))))))

I'm getting notifications of posts and comments again!

    WAY TO GOOOOOO!!!

I'll buy you lot a beer when I see you in Berlin!!!

    Well done!!!!

erm, just how many people are there at HQ and who drinks beer?

  • the 'k' key...

...is sticking on my lappy. Gotta jam mucho pressure onto the k key to make it show up on the screen.

That is in no way indicative of me being a sloppy cow when I scarf foody things and crumbs fly every where.

    Ahem.

In other news, the sun is shining in MenoLand *WAHOOO!!!!* today is Thursday, I bought a new camera (very thin and easy to travel with) and realllllllyy should read the instruction manual. That's if I could be arsed to do it.

One more day till the weekend!

    YAYNESS!

  • my day

Was a busy day. Full of nonsense and such. Welcome bizarro world.

Back home, puttering about, loving my home and my life, grateful for everything.

Thinking it is ace that the sun is shining longer hours and such. :>>

I luffs Spring, Summer and Fall. Winter, ermmmmmmmmm, it has its moments.

Grateful for the ones who love me and who I also love.

    Hubby is home tomorrow.

    *does a Happy Dance*

Missing a few friends, guess they are busy with life and such.

    Poo.

Starting to plan my trip in November when I hop across the pond (yet again) and thinking I could scarper to Wales, Scotland, perhaps Ireland but deffo London.

    Madness reigns supreme.

    Ta.

  • fertile myrtle

    My conception house runneth over.

It appears that the fertility Gawds have blessed MenoLand once again. First, the Java finches laid 6 eggs and now there appears to be eggs on the bottom of the fish tank?? Little white, round thingys, about 60+ are plopped on the bottom of the fish tank??

Hubby thought that fish have live births?

I have 2 tetras, 3 platys, 1 something or other and 2 parrot fish.

What the 'eff is that at the bottom of my tank?

In other news, this week is not dragging as much as last week but it is pretty damn close. Hubby comes back to Hotel d'George tomorrow. Yes, he was away last week, came home for 2 days and was gone on Monday.

I am not fussed that he is gone. It is amazing how giftees can alter my perspective on so many things.

    :>>

    Yes, I can be bribed.

  • I don't trust a man with a six pack

    Would you?

I mean they look good but realllllllly. Would you wanna be with someone that focuses on himself and not you???

Gimme a wee belly, balding head and a couple of chicken legs and that's what I call a man.

    Thoughts?

  • Support staff @ BCUK....

...I know you are working hard to resolve the issues and I just wanted to say 'thank-you.'

I know you have a high standard of service that you strive to meet each and every day.

I know it is easy to complain when one does not truly understand the trials and tribulations of maintaining an internet database as I would be the first to admit that I have been guilty of doing this in the past.

    But not now.

I am dedicated to you as a user and as part of the BCUK community.

Just wanted to let you know that I stand beside you as you work to resolve the issues at hand.

    Bless.

I really mean this and this is in no way my attempt to get you to buy me some Guinness whilst in Berlin. Hehehehehe..

  • tra-la-laaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

    Kinda surreal ya know.

I mean, I am planning and talking about hopping the pond to the Greenwich Bloggity Meet, then onto the Berlin Bloggity Meet and then moving onto MiraLand to explore her world for a few days.

And then before you can say MenoMama *sniggers* I`ll be in the moment I`ve been talking about.

I had this sensation as I walked down the streets of Liverpool, the U of K, dontcha know, surrounded by my mates, me --- lil, ole MenoMama from Canada, ambling down the streets of Le Pool amidst the twinkling lights, the chitter-chatter of passerbys, well, it was a magical moment.

    Won`t be long now.

    *beams*

  • BlogLand and such

Far be it for me not to complain about the state of Blogland and such but truth be told, I have gained so much from BCUK et al.

I've met wonderfully beautiful, kind, loving, humorous, generous and simply fabulous people here in Blogland. And for that I am eternally grateful.

And some of these folks I've met in the flesh, in real time, in real life and I gotta say that if it wasn't for BCUK, I would never have met them, those lovely folks, and for that, I would gladly tolerate a blip every now and again, for the internet thingy can be fickle at best but it is truly a small price to pay for the rewards I have enjoyed.

  • bouncy, bouncy, bounce

Today is a glorious day, the sun is shining and I've got some gardening to do! I love raking up the leaves only to reveal the buds of the perennials in my garden.

    tra-la-la-laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Just under three weeks till I come over to see ya and I am getting excited!

    *sproing*

Made some Mexican tapas for breakfast with a green tomoatillo sauce *drools* damn good it was.

    *parps*

The dark, lifeless grass has turned a beautiful shade of greenery, the birds are chirping inside and outside the house.

Java finch babies are growing some feathers. Their eyes remain shut and I am guessing that they are about 3-4 weeks old. Will get a picture of them when I can.

    yesterday's laugh

Hubby and I were in a store yesterday and we were looking at some rings. Sales dude brought in a MOFO diamond that made my eyes sparkle but it is wayyyyyyyyyyy out of hubby's budget. There was a bit of silence as I sat looking at the diamond so before I knew it, these words came tumbling outta my mouth...now, that diamond would get you a whole lotta loving

Sales dude high fived me, hubby turned a nice pink and shook his head.

    Hehehehehehe...

  • erm.....would it be wrong....

...for me to inform you that the past 2 days in MenoLand saw 24 degrees celsius, sunshine for damn near 12 hours each day and I am sitting here in shorts thinking that another apple martini is in order?

    *scarpers*

  • the bestest day

Hubby and I scarpered down to the Kensington Market in Toronto this morning to visit a Mexican grocery store to pick up some tomatillos which is used in a green sauce.

We discovered a new bakery called Cobs Bakery and bought some delicious whole grains bread to take home. We had an apricot & raisin bun for a snack. YUMMERS!!!!!

We bought some prezzies for one another for our upcoming anniversary *YAYNESS*

Booted it home, did our normal Saturday stuff and now here I sit, tired but happy.

    *yawns*

    And how was your day?

    xxxxxxx

  • *phished*

    Wellllllllllllllllllll, not quiteeeeeeeeeeeee.

    *hic*

Them 'effing apple martinis.........are 'effing gorgeous.

    :>>

Hubby and I had a family outing wiff the Trio for their annual physical to the vet's

    *wipes brow*

What a event that is! Oh the drama!!!

Molly G is a 'fraidy cat at the vets, all 80 pounds of her. Sammy hates the needles and dashes 'round the vet table. The wee Puddum P had to get some blood drawn and the needle got stuck in her leg, the poor wee dawg.

Hubby and I ended up with more hair on us than the dogs.

Bottom line...the Trio are healthy and happy and we have the vet bill to prove it.

    Anyhoooooo, how was your day?

    Hugs and kisses

  • All together now.....

    Johnathan_Mommy4[2]

    Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

That's my 2 week old nephew and his mum.

    Bless

  • slob alert

    That would be me.

When hubby is away, I do let things slide a wee bit cos I am so damn lazy

He's on his way home, plane just left and I have under 10 hours to remove the clutter of the past week.

    hmmmmmm

I work 7 hours, have one hour for lunch (no cleaning there as I will need to relax...hehehehe..)...gotta get ready for work, fiddle around a bit after work (cos that's what MenoMama's do) which leaves me with about 10 minutes to clean.

I do like to live life on the edge.

    :>>

    Have a great day,

    xxxxx0000

  • i'm cool with that

Hubby had a bitch of day flying from Manchester to Heathrow...plane was late and once landed he was told that the above ground trains were not running, that was announced after he waited for 90 minutes for one to come along. Then the poor fellow went to catch a bus and discovered that he was amongst the other gazillion people looking to go home.

'eff that he sezs and scarpers off to the subway and managed to get to his hotel.

Called me, totally on edge, whinging he was starving, was 8pm and he had yet to check into his hotel.

    There, there sezs I.

Grab something to eat and chillax in the hotel room and you will be coming home to me tomorrow hunny.

*cue a couple of hours later*

    How ya doing now Da?

I'm good Ma. Had a couple glasses of wine, got some food in my belly and I am coming home tomorrow.

    That's good Da.

Ma, please tell me we don't have nothing going on this weekend??

We don't Da, 'cept for a date with the BBQ to fire up some steaks and I do believe it is apple martini season now.

    Ace.

  • a couple of things

    thingy numero uno

cue convo between Meno and hubby

    brrrriiinngggggggggg goes the phone

Meno: I've decided I want a mofo ring for our 15th anniversary.

    Hubby: Wot?

Meno: Are you 'effing deaf all of a sudden??

cue nervous chatter aka ca-ca spewing from hubby

Hubby: Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, we got this and that to pay for.

Meno: How is that my problem?

insert ramblings of a sane man married to a nutter who flips and flops like a fish outta water

Meno: Look. Fifteen years ago I said I do. And I am still saying I do. That's gotta count for something.

    cue next day

Hubby: I'd love to buy you a ring Ma.

    insert a beaming Meno

    thingy numero dos

I finalized my itinerary yesterday for my hop across the pond. Now I just hafta remember to print it.

    (((SCREAMS))))

    Wahoooooooooooooooo!!!

  • Time.....

    ..heals all wounds...

    OR

    ...is a cruel thief.

    I read that sentence today.

I don't believe that time heals all wounds. Some things should never be forgotten and can never be healed.

As for time being a cruel thief, dunno about that. I think that precious moments that slip by quickly become cherished memories.

In other news, I saw a beautiful thing today when the baby Java finches were chirping for some food and their parents dutifully fed their babies. It is so amazing to see Mother Nature in full swing. The Java finch parents are good at their jobs. Humans could learn a thing or too from the animal world.

  • *warbles*

It'sssssss a smallllllll world after alllllllll.

    Time: 2:00pm MenoLand
    7:00pm, Sangam's, Manchester

As I type this, hubby is sat with his mates in the very restaurant that I was in last November where me and my bloggity mates hosted the Manchester Blog Meet.

Told him to try the butter chicken and to introduce himself to the waiter with the wonky finger as that dude used to live in Brampton about 1 hour away from my digs.

    Isn't that neat?

It'sssssss a smallllllll world after alllllllll.

  • can't see the forest for the trees

There are times when I look around at the fluff sitting at the periphery of my life and I wonder where the heck I went wrong.

And that's daft really because why do I accept responsibility for all the wrongs going on when in fact, the responsibility is not mine but theirs if you know what I mean.

This was brought to the forefront of my mind today as I said goodbye to AnnaMaria and her family and when I turned to say the final goodbye (I can never just say it once but hafta do it a thousand times as those who have met me already know) well, I saw such love, admiration, respect and genuine affection for me, I was suitably humbled and reminded once again that no matter how isolated or how whimsical I may feel for what should be and yet will never be, I am surrounded by loving, caring people and it is simply impossible to be alone and unloved and all I need to do is to look beyond the forest and I will see the trees.

    That is all.

  • Today's News

Gonna scarper off to Mississauga (about 1 hours' drive away from the 'shwaw) this day to visit my second bezzie mate (Tumbleweed being the first).

I've known AnnaMaria (her nickname) for about 12 years now. She's another one of my friends that I can dial the phone and we pick up 'zactly where we have left off.

Annamaria's gift to me was to show me how to behave with dignity during difficult moments, the meaning of loyalty to one's friends and how to keep sensitive information between two people.

AnnaMaria has an inner strength, incredibly patience and amazing resilience.

    That's my kinda gal.

In other news, I hear the baby Java finches making baby chirping noises but the parents will not let me get near them to take a picture. I am ever so curious about their physical state of being. I know there are at least 2 eggs that have not hatched as yet.

In other, other news, someone once asked me if everybody in my home had two names, ie Molly G, Puddum P and so on...'er, yesssss' replied I. Doesn't everybody?

  • Becks VS Guinness

    Really?

Could there ever be a debate?

Watching a teevee program on Deutschland and the dude was saying that they be the country famous for their beer.

    G'wan sezs I.

How could a country possibly outdo any Canadian beer *thinks Labatt's Blue et al* let alone my second fav beer, the delectable, tasty, scarf-more-than-one-and-you-shit-through-the-eye-of-a needle beer, Guinness????

    Say it isn't so.

  • 'zhausted

First one over to MenoLand and does the dishes for me gits a $1,000,000.00 virtual dollars, some hugs and kisses, home cooked food and oddles'n'oodles of wine.

    I m so 'effing tired.

Was up at 5:45am, saw hubby on his way, fed the Crew, went for a 5K walk with the Trio, scarpered to the dentist, was out'n'about snarfing some pistachios, broke a tooth *curses* came home, walk the Trio, then ran for 5 K's, did some laundry, had a shower, cleaned the house *sobs* went back to the dentist to get tooth fixed *bastids* fed the Crew, cooked dinner and here I sit with swollen feet, a frozen mouth, a full belly, the Trio on the sofas *zzzzzzzzzzzzz* and a glass of champers to my left.

    And how was your day?

  • 6:45am

I've been up for an hour.

I'm convinced that early rising on the weekend should be outlawed.

    6:56am

I've tried 3 times to write something interesting and I am even boring my own self.

    *yawns*

    Have a great Saturday...

    hugs and kisses
