I was watching a teevee show the other day and during one segment, there was a an adult woman and her father sitting and taking about the father's expectations of his daughter.

The father proceeded to tell his daughter that he wished she would find a young man to fall in love with so she could raise a family.

And the sadness displayed on her face and ever so deep down in her eyes was breathtakingly overwhelming for I could never imagine not being able to love the one that I do, for the one she loved was a she and not a he.

Sad to me that was.

Dunno why people can not understand that love has no boundaries, no limits and for one to know love and be loved, now that is the miracle to behold.

Does love really have NO boundaries? I am not entirely certain. It must be hard for someone to find out their loved one (partner or child) is a mass murderer or something like that. But then did they love them before or did they just not know them. There are different kinds of love too, and different levels. That is all part of the debate I suppose. Too early in the morning to think about it really.

I agree though if you love someone then you should love them for the way they are not the way you want them to be. But if you do not know who someone is then you cannot really say you love them. That is often the problem I suppose we say we love someone then we find out something bad about them and our feelings change because we find out who and what they truly are. OR something like that.

I think all parents wish their children happiness, and it is easier (on the whole) to be straight. I have an aunt and two cousins who are gay, and it was incredibly difficult for my aunt. Less so for my cousins, because my aunt had already laid the path to acceptance.

I think there are many 'unaceptable' loves. The wole thing reminds me of that video for 'Beautiful' by Christina Aguilera. What one person considers beautiful and worthy of love is another person's nightmare.

Acceptance is the key. Can you accept someone for what they are? Acceptance and tolerance. Both is short supply.

Incidentally, I dreamed of you last night. I was passing your house, and dropped in to get access to your wireless broadband. You were wanting to knock a hole in the wall to expand the room but were worried there wasn't another wall on the other side. I suggested you pull up the floorboards upstairs and keek down the hole, and your man jumped up and ran upstairs to do just that. I had the car of a woman whose children swim with mine, but it was mine in the dream.

Wonder what all that means?

It is sad .. tugs at your heartstrings it does but then the father is only loving his daughter as best he can. In his belief system women- women relationships are wrong / bad / lead to unhappiness/ shame /problems etc etc while heterosexual relationships spare one from that ( in his belief system , that is ) He only wants his daughter to be happy ... or maybe also for his own life to be less complicated .. who knows ?

My father was a very patriotic Latvian, bless him . I still remember him coming up to me in the kitchen during Prof's dad's first visit and ssying " You are not to marry that man .. you must marry a Latvian man " !!! well .. that was his wish and opinion but not mine. In a way , I suppose I did respect his wish by NOT marrying that chap and having an precious illigitimate love child with that Venezuelan man. Right up until the day Prof was born he opposed me and sent me hateful letters which had more to do with his own disappointment and fears.

I was so overjoyed and filled with grace about my own situation that his words did not hurt me. Amazing really.

I know I have no children but I would like to think i would never tell them who to love and who not to love, I have always felt people should be free to make their own decisions
